M 42 Orion Nebula & NGC 1977 Running Man Nebula

This image was taken with the Tak FS-60c mounted on the top of my Meade 14" OTA which is mounted on my NEW MI250 GEM mount, it is a new adventure working with the MI250 but I believe so far it is well worth the investment. With the LX200GPS I was able to image quite well but could not image anything to the North which is what I will be doing as soon as I get the bugs out and get the alignment right. The MI250 is an entire different beast than the LX200 but it has been easier to learn, the hardest part is the RA and DEC adjustments which tend to be very tight probably due to the extreme weight I have onboard.
One of the most famous winter nebulas in the Earth's night sky. Orion is dominated by the reddish emission nebula M42 near the bottom of the image, with blue reflection nebulae, and NGC 1977, near the top. Dust lanes and dark nebulae, the striking cosmic apparitions surrounding Orion's stellar nurseries are about 1,500 light-years away and are several light-years across. Located at the edge of a giant molecular cloud complex spanning hundreds of light-years, these nebulae represent only a small, but very visible(!), fraction of this region's wealth of interstellar material. Within these colorful clouds of Orion, astronomers have also identified what appear to be numerous infant solar systems
